ReplyDeleteI am afraid that won't completely rescue the clue, for the light EMENDS would require the def to be 'improves text', introducing which becomes difficult with the subject in plural.
27A: and 18D do not match. TUNABLE doesnot seem to be the correct word.
ReplyDeleteIt becomes alright once we spell 18D as 'Cesarean'.
ReplyDeleteConfused as to the anno for 29A.
ReplyDelete@Feorge
ReplyDeleteCESAREAN was a typo on my part, Aash has corrected it. TUNABLE is correct meaning 'capable of adjustment'
@Ash
The 29A clue is a direct definition for LAYETTE, no word play involved. Link to the word has also been provided where you can see its meaning
The solution says that 12A is 'trot'.
ReplyDelete@Ash
ReplyDeleteTROT is right as a Trot is a Trotskyist, who is a supporter of extreme left wing views. I did think of it yesterday but put in TOOL without checking out Trotsky
