ReplyDeleteIT COULD BE 10 DAYS OF IMAGINATION EXCITEMENT AND LOTS OF INTERACTIONS AND DISCUSSIONS PLUS A LOT OF RESEARCH
13A GRS IS AN ABBREVIATION FOR GUNMEN ACCORDING TO A LIST OF CROSSWORD ABBREVIATIONS WHICH I GOT OUT OF ONE OF THE EARLIER DISCUSSIONS ON THIS FORUM
ReplyDeleteANNO FOR 25D SHOULD BE, I THINK
ReplyDeleteH =BUSH AT LAST
US= AMERICAN
H= HOSPITAL
I LIKE YOUR RESEARCH ON ANNO FOR CHOSEN. I WAS WONDERING WHERE THE MARGARET FITTED IN.
ReplyDeleteALSO I LIKED DALI, WHICH I DID NOT GET. FORGOT THAT ALI WAS 'THE GREATEST'
9 - Half open a flask (4) - {A}{JAR} Somehow I had always thought ajar meant fully open!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe because you as a young boy often put your hand in the cookie jar left open by your grandma?
Thanks Suresh,
ReplyDeleteYour anno for 25D is spot on.
Don't remember the discussion on GRS.
I wouldn't say Excitement but Imagination (~aka wild guesses), interaction, discussion & research OK.
Chaturvasi,
ReplyDeleteHow did you guess? I have always been one for midnight snacking, one of the reasons for my being portly!!
Discussion was not on GRS per se. It was a link to a long list of crossword abbreviations which CV or somebody provide which I downloaded and copied
ReplyDeletePortly is good Colonel. My wife's complaint is that I have become pot bellied
ReplyDeleteSuresh -
ReplyDeleteWhat is the definition for the word reqd?
"Hush" means "Quiet", so how do you account for "Talking quietly".
"Hush, hush baby" means "Quiet, baby! Don't cry!" Not "Talk quietly!"
The def as given, if correct, would lead only to HUSHING, not HUSH.
With "Flavours (plural) ... is (singular)..." in another clue and with ever so many other problems elsewhere, we should be
25dn
really.
THE DEF SHOULD BE TALK QUIETLY BY ALL NORMAL THOUGHT PROCESSES. MAYBE NJ THINKS DIFFERENTLY.
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS WHAT I MEANT THAT IT WILL BE FUN AND GAMES FOR THE NEXT 10 DAYS
3D could also be Agha?
ReplyDeleteReaders of The Hindu Crossword Corner,
ReplyDeleteHop over to Crossword Unclued and read an interview with Colonel Gopinath:
http://www.crosswordunclued.com/2009/11/interviews-with-ace-solvers-part-vi.html
Colonel: Thank you again for the interview. It's great to get an insight into the mind of a formidable solver :)
Hi Shuchi,
ReplyDeleteThanks for featuring me on your blog. I am honoured
You are right Suresh, it is AGHA and not ALLA
ReplyDeleteColonel: Have been following your blog for a couple of months now.
ReplyDeleteAm quite a fan :)
Hi Col
ReplyDeleteI read your interview and am really impressed. You are really a crossword 'GURU'.
We are all learning from you.
Just a humble request to some of our members here. Please avoid posting comments in upper case. It is a bit harsh on the eyes. Please take this in the right spirit.
ReplyDeleteRichard
Just to add on to Richards comment, upper case in internet parlance is akin to shouting!!
ReplyDeleteRamya and tpa, thanks
ReplyDeleteHello Col, What a treat it was to read your Crossword Unclued interview. I had no idea that crossword puzzles were so popular in India. It was interesting to see the differences and similarities in the puzzles you solve and the ones we have in the United States.
ReplyDeleteYou have quite a few fans. Keep up the good work.
I was about to write that at 66 I am a bit hard of hearing but still I could do without the shouting.
ReplyDeleteIf depressing shift key is a prob. in using uc/lc as in normal writing, the message can be in all lower case - which is not a strain on the eye.
Thanks Richlas
ReplyDeleteClear Ayes,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliments and for dropping by at my blog.
