  2. Harking back to yesterday:

23d - Ran to quarter crazily, so closes distance (5) - NEARS* (ran+se) (Addendum - Needs correction to N?R?A)

Turns out to be NORMA today. Any idea, a posteriori?

  3. Re 29a and the comment against it.

Could he have been Mr Rutnagur?

  4. @Kishore, Manna must have changed the word from nears to norma but forgot to change the clue ?

  5. Kishore @ 8:34,
It's obvious that MM forgot to amend 23D after he found that only MORATORIA would fit in that space.

  6. Some clever clues today. Liked trader, obscured, placebo and discord.
Licked the use of "dicky" meaning not correct to be the anagram indicator for Leonard.
Just don't like the word storied, but that's cos it sounds wrong, nothing wrong with the clue

  7. Can storied urn or animated bust / Back to its mansion call the fleeting breath?

  9. Regarding Titian and red. Did you know that people with ginger hair are teased mercilessly in the UK. Ginger is even a term of abuse (as opposed to in Arabia where it is considered a blessing). However I have two flame haired sons who are justifiably proud of their locks.

Anyone who has no problem with an instruction INDEED to put a word between DE and ED should not find this device unusual.

  18. I was not talking of the device, FER by itself is not a word, that's what I meant

Not to worry, with practice you will be able to complete. Go through the various pages of 'CROSSWORD UNCLUED' and you will learn how to tackle Cryptic CW's.
