  3. 25 - Show admiration for the learned? Me too (8) - LIKEWISE

Reminded me of an anecdote where the US prez was supposed to visit the oldest citizen, who was coached to ask "How do you do?", expect a reply of "Fine. How do you do?" from the prez to be responded with "Likewise". Memory, however, played games and the o.c. responded with "wiseguy".

  5. 6D - Make clear littering pollutes (5,3) is not [DD]. Its POLLUTES* = SPELL OUT

  6. Good one. EMBRACED sort of emerged from the crossings, but for the life of me did not figure out the parsing.

Given that Buzzer is capable of such adroit wordplay, why not some smoother surfaces, say for eg 15D, 17D, which don't seem to mean much on plain reading

    1. Bhala, 15D, I agree could have been better. 17D on the other hand, the definition is "fast" and not "a possibility" as indicated here.

    2. True Bhavan, but then is it not further reinforcement of the point?! Strange that the definition should be somewhere in the middle, elimination of rat distanced from the fodder, and the whole clue not rolling off the tongue quite so convincingly?
