    The placement of HP ind is in the middle , though resorted to even by established setters/clue writers), is frowned upon by solvers, though here the enu 2,2, leaves no doubt. If it had been a word with enu 4, it might have been confusing and the solution delayed.


    16d B OLIVIAN (anag. of 'a violin')

    17d W OLVES (anag. of 'loves'). Not human animals, I suppose.

    Crossword is full of people - man, lawyer, woman, boy, queen, sons, lover, husband, wife, astronomer, American, bishop, bachelor, leader, sweetheart, criminal, watchmen, ace, partner, female, heels (i.e., cads), minority groups, somebody and, finally, 'and others'!
