Welcome: Cryptic Fa. Hope you are a female; with reference to the discusion in this blog. More on this later 0010hrs NY
Thanks. And yes :)
Delete1d ET AL (rev. of LATE (behind schedule).
ReplyDeleteThe placement of HP ind is in the middle , though resorted to even by established setters/clue writers), is frowned upon by solvers, though here the enu 2,2, leaves no doubt. If it had been a word with enu 4, it might have been confusing and the solution delayed.
16d B OLIVIAN (anag. of 'a violin')
17d W OLVES (anag. of 'loves'). Not human animals, I suppose.
Crossword is full of people - man, lawyer, woman, boy, queen, sons, lover, husband, wife, astronomer, American, bishop, bachelor, leader, sweetheart, criminal, watchmen, ace, partner, female, heels (i.e., cads), minority groups, somebody and, finally, 'and others'!
(P.S.: Not taking extra for any duplication among my answers.)
There is no HP in 1D?
DeleteI guess Chatur meant reversal indicator being in the middle ("showed up")
