    1. I did too. The First H in was 9A.
      Gridman found a unique way of getting over the problem of starred clues. The result was an exhilarating solving experience. Thsnks Gridman.

    2. The IA version does not allow certain things. I thought the solver using the app, after getting just one or two clues, can decide what H is.

  4. Yes. I was about to mention that near Loyola college in CHN a building known as Brownstone Apartments was novel and famous in those decades. And later I had a chance of seeing it in doldrums too. Given the penchant of developers to give exotic but irrelevant names, I don't remember whether it was really brownstone.

  5. Coincidentally today's Guardian puzzle is a themed one and uses the same device. Instead of H, a word is used.
