    2. Interesting. Talking of sugar, in inland Saurashtra sugar is called mauras-centuries ago sugar was imported from Mauritius there and the name shortened to Mauras there. Of course khand is the more popular word for sugar in Gujrat.

    1. Shrikhand is popular both on Maharahtra and Gujarat equally. My wife who hails from Nagpur prepares Shrikhand(and Puranpoli-a dish only popular in Maharahtra only)

  3. I interpreted 6D as Bear - the phrase "bearing arms" made me think it could be a synonym for sport :-(
