    SHOOTING STAR" was how the basketball CELEB was popularly known. His father, a GODOWN worker, had recently been RETRENCHEd and so packed him off in a FREIGHT TRAIN, PLYING to the university town, ticketless, to escape the BLIGHTED, DEPRAVED environs of the ghetto where they lived.The young lad was at first BEWILDERed by the ways of the suave cityfolk. He often RUMINATEd about his friends back home with whom he had shared a STOGIE. STUDYING serious academic subjects did not interest him and he was wont to SNOOZE during lectures. Instead, the sports ground IMPARTed many valuable lessons.He PARTOOK in every match of his basketball team; rarely did he have to WARM THE BENCH He rose to the APEX of the list of all-time greats of the game. During an ALUMNI meet, he met his future wife. She had been a SHRINKING VIOLET, so different from the other girls who fawned over him and this had aroused his curiosity. He proposed to her and presented her a diamond SCARAB pendant, an ancient Egyptian good luck charm. Who knows what the great God, YAHWEH had in store for them? Gaiety or GRAVITAS? The ARBITER jury is out on that question.

      Thanks Sunnet and Paddy. The shooting star and another girl were seen in a WANTON tabloid picture, GOING OFF on a CAUSEWAY, causing his wife to cry so much that she developed a STYE!And that is how the PRO became a ROGUE!!!

    COVID - 19

    Soon GODOWNS may close permanently. The CAUSEWAYS look vacant sans vehicles.

    The scientific community do IMPART, from time to time, precautionary steps to be undertaken.

    Companies may be forced to RETRENCH employees. And the GRAVITAS? People are scared and afraid to SNOOZE in public places.

    SHOOTING STARS who became CELEBS are BEWILDERED.

    The world at large RUMINATES.

    Aircrafts have stopped PLYING as the COVID-19 has BLIGHTED one and all.

    Even the come-what-may guy smoking a STOGIE in the corner tea shop looks worried.

      Is the def, split- Had at the start and took at the end?
      No. Can't be. Only Had is the def. and agreement gives OK. Blog needs correction- both are dark. We have always to be careful when Arden mentions flower.

    Thanks Colonel for remembering me. My visit to the blog has become irregular as you have restricted the solving to the beginners/newcomers first. I check my answers through mobile but I am not able to post comments as my profile does not appear in the comment link and the blog refuses to accept my comment. I don't know how to link it in mobile. Only when I work in PC, I am able to post the comment, but late in the day I don't feel like visiting the blog through PC. Also, Most of the time I am on tour and am unable to get the paper and time to solve. I will make my visit to the blog frequent henceforth and will try to post comments.
