ReplyDeleteUsing so many film titles in wordplay for non-thematic solutions is great. Congrats to the setter.

DeleteThank you, CV.
DeleteBTW, Skyfall, though a Bond movie is not a theme word, as it is not a Connery movie. The Col. has rightly marked Dragon-Heart, a Connery movie. There is one more role which he played which is yet to be highlighted. The Robbing Hood...
I included non Bond movies since I did not want to restrict myself to his movies as Bond, though all his Bond movies appear in the clues
You mean Robin Hood: The prince of thieves? or Robin and Marian?
DeleteRobin and Marian...
DeleteI love the use of 'motherly female' for DAM, with PoS perfect.
ReplyDelete+1. We had a discussion about that in Incognito's previous round.
DeleteTH adds one more puzzle to CW- guess the setter!
ReplyDeletePrint edition carries a note of regret- yesterday's CW is by Lightning (and not by Neyartha as mentioned)!!
MB said Neyartha is unusually kind!
I did have the feeling while solving as the clues were most unlike Neyartha's style, his clues are much longer. I also found it strange that he was using a different grid but forgot to mention it.
DeleteSorry. MB said 'Generous'.
ReplyDeleteI had a doubt about Teeth/ Teethe. Had to check. Teethe is the process of getting teeth. So def.,as mentioned by Col.,is 'Get canines'.
ReplyDeleteHow come none of us suspected it. For N's puzzles are invariably thematic and his style of clueing too has a personal stamp.
ReplyDeleteI was searching for a theme, but could not get more than 3 or 4.
ReplyDeleteYesterday was shown initially as Neyartha. Today, the online version shows it as Lightning
ReplyDeleteRegarding the Col.s query against 23d, I think the clue needs to be re-read...
ReplyDeleteGoldfinger's has to be read as 'Goldfinger has'. Has is a container indicator. Then,
ReplyDeleteancient=old
swimming apparatus=fin.
Am I right? I needed that help/prod.
I just checked if there is any particular reason for publishing this themed CW today w.r.to Sean Connery, but coulkd not find anything. It's just TH.
ReplyDeleteIt was set on 1st November when Sean Connery passed away on 31st October. Test solving was done on 2nd November. Got printed today.
DeleteSet in just one day, wow !š
DeleteFaster than a James Bond car!
DeleteWonderful tribute to a wonderful actor!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Vasant
DeleteGratified to see that the serial number of this puzzle is 13107. Not 007, of course, but he was alive when 13007 was published and 14007 would have been too late...
ReplyDeleteThomphil.Incognito boosts my morale.Zloty was beyond my reach though I correctly got ZYLOT.Thanks.
ReplyDeleteNot many of us would have known that currency. Crossings help anf of course the rest is up to google- as always.
