    2. Paddy, like $=£=₹, million=lakh.

    3. There is no questioning the fact that a million equals ten lakhs. But literally as a unit a lakh in Indian number system is equivalent(not equal) to a million.
The clue should have hinted at equivalence with like or say...

    4. Oh! You have spoiled it now. I thought of Giving a lakh of rupees to Prasad and ask him to return a million!!

    5. ... to return a million dollars since $ = ₹

    7. I am a casual player and natural rather than any serious conventions. Did not get much of a chance to play regularly.

  3. Col. Sir, rather than a specific company (as your link indicates), "telco" is a common abbreviation for telecommunication companies in general. Ref: https://www.thefreedictionary.com/telco

  4. "Copper" as definition for POLICEMAN was clever. The clue surface for 16A was well done. 21A had the [Wordplay] in [Definition] pattern. Overall an easy edition with some unusual words like HASSOCKS, STOPCOCK, GEODESY and TISANE. I did not expect to find JUNG hiding in the puzzle as "psychoanalyst".

  5. stopcock? I thought it was quite common.

  6. 8A threw me for a loop. I filled "UNEARTHED" at first but I've never heard that as a synonym for "UNGROUNDED" and backed out. It took some crossing letters and an aha moment to get my confidence back.

STOPCOCK is not a big one in the USA. Outside of cryptics, I've only ever heard "Spigot", "Tap" and the more generic "Valve".

TISANE also a new one for me - a fun solve as my wife was familiar with it. More fun to have her validate my "Is that actually a word?" queries than to google them.

I was also confused by Million = LAKH but I'll accept it, I think I follow that it's a common name for a group of currency units.

  7. One more thing I'd like to add is, for a long time, LAKHpati used to be synonymous with MILLIONaire. With changed financial status of the average Indian, now it is CROREpati.

  8. Ground can easily be a synonym of earth and grounding us just an extension. Used fairly interchangeably here.
Stopcock is different from tap or spigot. It is more of a control valve in long main lines- sometimes called a stop valve.

  9. Earthing and earthed are regularly used wrt electrical appliances. I see some references to unearthed cables as well on Google.

    2. No. Actually, I also figured it was unearthed. But filled it only after getting the crossings. πŸ‘
