    5A VEERING... I also don't understand the G.

    MARSALA and SCRUNCHED were both charmingly clued. ABCEDARIAN and GORKY were a bit too obscure and archaic even for me. Not going to spice up any conversations in my future.

    Weird typos in the online version, 25D REAIM and 27D "CUE". :/

    THC 14007 (Yesterday, Oct 30) by Karaoke has a clue in which BRACE is "wearing" {O}{AT}.
    20 Couple wearing nothing at regatta (4,4) BOAT RACE {B{O}{AT}RACE}
    Here, A "wearing" B means that B goes inside A.

    THC 13999 (Thursday Oct 19) by Dr. X has a clue in which {IN} is "wearing" THAT.
    2D Soldier's helmet is so cool to wear (3,3) TINHAT
    Here, B "to wear" A means that B goes inside A. (The opposite of the prior example)

    "wearing" and "wears" are insertion indicators, meaning that A "wearing" B or A "wears" B means that A goes inside B.

      I'd say it absolutely reads more naturally as an insertion indicator. Things that are "worn" like clothes, go on the outside.

      However, there's a British slang use for "wearing" https://www.thefreedictionary.com/wear (#11) that means "Accepting", which I think one could argue could apply inversely.

      I'd accept either, but the second, (wearing = "Accepting") is more tricky, backwards, and very much the exception.

      "A" Wearing "b" Or
      "A wearing", B.
      First is verb, second one is more like adjective.
      Like saying
      Guy in blue jacket or
      Blue jacket guy.

      Thanks all for your views. I am of the view, 'wearing' means bearing, having, displaying, featuring [as per Chambers thesaurus] and hence can work otherwise too.

      On the lighter side, take it as innerwear!

      Yes, shot can mean try, but shot also can mean "broken down" ie "My car's alternator is shot and needs to be replaced"
