    I fell for Gridman's sleight of hand and put in TUBA for 27a and struggled with the GADGET...

  4. Left out Fish kettle, since I did not think that Gridman would make an enumeration error. Maybe Gridman will pull one out of his various lexicons.

  11. To balance things a bit: I really like 20A; my COD. Oh, and the U's didn't bother me much. The clues were not abstruse and most of the answers referred to familiar household items.

    Some of the criticism expressed above, especially without justification, seem too harsh and OTT, IMO.
