    2. 12A was actually brilliant, putting the UN, LOC and Kashmiri chief together.

  2. Setters are drumming often nowadays about what sounds like my son's school. (Timpany School)

    1. Once long ago - when I was not in the THC fold - I visited Vizag and was staying in the upstairs portion of a house right opposite Timpany School. That was the first time I ever came across the word.

BTW, 'timpani' is plural of 'timpano'. The spelling 'tympani' too is allowed, it seems.

If the school is named 'Timpany school' what does 'timpany' signify? Or is it a misspelling?

    2. Timpany, I think, was the name of the founder of the school

  3. Tympani was how I knew it first !

Started with a nice picture postcard.Enjoyed today's free flowing CW, though "not an iota" of doubt that I was not to complete it fully. Failed to "pay the bill" (having filled it as toll and got into trouble with the branch)

  4. Loved 26A best. A clever pop-cult reference always makes my day.
