    2. I witnessed the matches of the first IPL.It was all exciting - wickets crumbling quickly, batsmen making lofted shots, the cheerleaders making merry...

      But the interest waned in subsequent years.

      This time the scandal broke only when the IPL had progressed for several days but from the start I did not witness any. Not one match.

      So when the spot- and match-fixing news broke, I felt proud that I was not witness to the tamasha.

  33. To clarify, Roughs is used in the same way as roughs up. Roughen and rough both mean manhandle, acc to merriam-webster. And as for the other half, setter = Spinner. For a spinner, roughs on the pitch are the best places to exploit.
