DeleteI witnessed the matches of the first IPL.It was all exciting - wickets crumbling quickly, batsmen making lofted shots, the cheerleaders making merry...
DeleteBut the interest waned in subsequent years.
This time the scandal broke only when the IPL had progressed for several days but from the start I did not witness any. Not one match.
So when the spot- and match-fixing news broke, I felt proud that I was not witness to the tamasha.
How IPL demeans women was brought out in this article:

I think it just failed to do what it was supposed to : Promote young players. Too many side shows dirupting the main act.
DeleteThe cheerleaders thingy is pretty lame. It's something they oughta do away with.

ReplyDeleteSorry for being late. In 13A the intended definition was 'caught and stumped', both of which are dismissals.
ReplyDeleteGot it, thanks!
DeleteThere is a mistake in the answer posted for 19D. A closer look will make it obvious.
ReplyDeleteIf I may point out...
ReplyDeleteGrid needs to avoid double and triple unches.
Yes, sir. I will keep that in mind henceforth.

21 Politician and setter housed in craft at least desirable place (6) AR(MP)(I)T
25 Be present singularly / to cut down, say,// cartridges (4) (AM)(MO) ~mow
To clarify, Roughs is used in the same way as roughs up. Roughen and rough both mean manhandle, acc to merriam-webster. And as for the other half, setter = Spinner. For a spinner, roughs on the pitch are the best places to exploit.
ReplyDeleteAnd third man, is much finer. Point is the squarer guy.
ReplyDeleteI would love a general/critical feedback from the solvers to assess myself and find areas to improve.
