ReplyDeleteWas not too convinced about 'goes through' in 12A and the placement of container indicator in 6A. But that's for nitpicking in an otherwise awesome puzzle. Day after day we get super crosswords in THC
ReplyDelete12 a is fine, I thought.
DeleteA nice puzzle no doubt.
A, B in for B inside A kind clues always confuse me
DeleteYes, they are confusing. But this clue seems better than the SKUNK clue.
DeleteYeah .. The goes through bit looked fine to me.. However, if one had a problem with the placement of the reversal indicator, I would agree... 'Reject' is a transitive verb..
DeleteHe talked on and on.
ReplyDeleteHe talked for a long time - and for a long time.
8 Eat perhaps, a late afternoon meal (4,3) HIGH TEA {EAT}*
ReplyDeleteI think 'perhaps' is a part of the def, or else it's superfluous.
Perhaps is the AIind
DeleteBut it is a reverse anagram.
Delete'High' playing the part?
DeleteI think it is a reverse anagram. So high is the ind.
DeleteHow to identify a reverse anagram
DeleteReverse anagrams can be tricky. There is no strong indicator in the clue for a reverse anagram (the conventional anagram indicator is within the answer). Sometimes the setter will helpfully add a hint alongside the anagrammed word - "perhaps", "could be", etc. - to let you know that something unusual is going on.

You hit the nail on the head on behalf of Suchi ! It's nice of you, Ajeesh. :)
DeleteIs O for 'often' a std abbreviation?
ReplyDeleteI had also put in 'rate' half hardheartedly for 4D.
ReplyDeleteJust a few short, including 'Skunk'. No clarity yet on this.
The link at left bar is not updated as of now but Shuchi has updated her blog on 'Give annos to given clues'.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same link. She has done the updation on the same page
DeleteOh, is that why the date here is that of the original post?
ReplyDeleteYes
