As commented by sree sree at 12:31 Quantity-ty =quanti. I (one at the end) moves inside quant two places or evens. TY deletion is from a fourth wasted 2 of the 8 letters. Kosher?

  29. I was thrilled to see PRACTISED EASE as a grid entry. A beautiful phrase.
Professional setters use software which will give suggestions for solution words/phrases. Not all amateur setters will use such software (I don't know how Novice goes about his work). Most of the words/phrases may come out of their head or probably from wordfind software online where with some known and unknown letters in a string you get available suggestions.
I opened two of specialist dictionaries that I have in my vast library but none of them has PRACTISED EASE. There were other phrases such as PRACTISED HAND and PRACTISED LIAR.(The database from which the lists were produced would not have had PRACTISED EASE. Yet it is a well-known, familiar phrase.
Novice has just about managed to clue.
The def is not quite accurate (from POS view).
A proper def would be "Facility that comes out of training" which leads to PRACTISED EASE though it's a dead giveaway with no wp needed at all.

    1. Thanks for solving and the feedback. The grid is totally done manually no software used. Picked it up from a book that I was reading. Yes not the most elegant clue, had a tough time cluing it. Tried to bury the definition in the surface and just managed it. Am Novice and with some more experience may be it will be "practiced ease". Hopefully other clues were better.

    2. I think the clue was good and the other clues were very good. A setter who fills the grid manually and is conscious of how the Wordplay will seemlessly merge with the surface is bound to go places and improve consistently.
