Many thanks for the colourful blog Ramesh 😀. My intention in 9D was as you have parsed first.

Terrific clue! I just biffed it without parsing. The enu was helpful in getting the solution.
DeleteChallenging and enjoyable. The challenge was mostly in NE corner where I had to struggle forever for getting El Obeid, Aperient and Gado Gado. Loved the rest of the clues.
ReplyDeleteThanks to Ramesh for the blog.
+1 couldn't land to get for a long while so couldn't Launch EID even though memory sprang GadoGado (event triggered gig! And converted to gag in reverse engineering).
DeleteVery enjoyable grid. Thank you
ReplyDeleteRather smooth sailing today compared to the last two days. But the brain tweak factor remains the same. Thanks to Dr X.
ReplyDeleteThank you dear Mr. Ramesh for the thought=provoking solutions and at the same time I 'envy' you Dr. X. Well, don't ask me whY sine this grid compiled by you happens to be an extraordinary brain-teaser!!!
ReplyDeleteAll said and done, let me admit that while being under 'House Arrest' here in Delhi (hopefully just one more day to go), I could solve on my own just 1D, 3D, 4D, 9D, 19D & 20D besides 18A, 23A, 24A, 25A, 26A & 27A.
Take Care & Stay Safe... Cheers!!!
7D. You had me there, Doctor. Aperient was new to me. Dictionaries give the meaning as laxative. Without realising the true meaning of the definition I was about to ask for a clarification herr but then I realised I am currently taking a laxative myself and had a hearty laugh. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteChallenging .But frustrating.Thomphil
ReplyDeleteClassic puzzle doc. learned a few new words. Could not enjoy and complete fully due to lack of time this morning. When I am late, the tendency to peep in the blog takes over!
ReplyDelete13A Anno is not convincing. I solved it as FOLLOWERS for "fans"..
ReplyDeleteVery tough doc. Gave up after an hour. Could not solve - ELOBEID (Havent heard of it) + GADO GADO + APERIENT. Need to improve. Thanx.
