Demo every now and then- eo
Several - many
Cycles - yman
Eo in yman: yeoman (Farmer)
Well done Veena :)
Delete5d is there a typo in the clue. I think it should be tricks (pranks) and not trick.
ReplyDeleteNo typo
DeleteMy +1 is for Sree_Sree.
DeleteHow & why?
DeleteFollowers-fans
Prank= Trick
Change of syllables only. So
Fans Trick become Trans fix.
Oh! I got the point now. As it is, it would only give Trans fic and not fix. (Fix has to come from tricks)
Yes @Sree_Sree - You are correct. It had been corrected in the online version this morning to - Followers’ pranks, per Spooner, shock (8)
DeletePleasant grid to solve. Loved CLIQUE, FOUNTAIN and CHAPLAIN. Fajita and feisty took a long time coming. It was 8.44 when I finished. Exercise for my feeble brain Hypatia. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks AJ. Glad you enjoyed it. Well done on the timing too
DeleteIs there a Nina? I can see the Setter's name in the top row but I failed to find any other message.
ReplyDeleteThere is a fifty on the left, whatever it indicates
ReplyDeleteHypatia's Fiftieth Crossword in TH!
DeleteCongratulations Hypatia!
Congrats Hypatia!
DeleteCongrats Hypatia!!!

DeleteCongrats Hypatia
DeleteCongrats Hypatia. I am sure it is only TH and does not include the earlier Brand quiz. Curious to know the total.
DeleteThanks Colonel (who had astutely picked up and also hinted in his opening remark), Vasant, AJ, KKR, Sree_sree and Paddy.
DeleteWrt. Paddy @13:22 Yes, it's Hypatia's fifty. I set 127 themed Brand crosswords in my real name which had been published in The Hindu Businessline's supplement called Cat.a.Lyst. These were also the first Indian crosswords that were available for online interactive solving.
I have also done a few grids for other publications including Preston Pages in the UK and in the two volumes of Cryptic Crossroads.
Wow@ Thank you Sowmya for the fund of details. My knowledge was sketchy. Though I knew you had done branded CW's and also solved a few of them,I did not know they were so many. Good show.
DeleteEver increasing unlike the NIFTY
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on reaching fifty
Let the number soar
Do give us more
By remaining cryptic and witty!
One more feather in your cap CGB. Nice impromptu one.
DeleteReferring Nifty to the financial consultant is interesting.
Awesome limerick CGB. Love it.
DeleteBrain teaser; particularly 1,11,12 and 14 ac.1 and 15 dn also appeared tough.Congrats to the great philosopher.
ReplyDeleteThanks - Your name seems to have been overwritten (it's a quirk in blogger:() Hope you enjoyed the work out:)
DeleteThanks Sathia. Hope to see you and more solvers doing the grids too:)
