    1. I think it's 'e' that mathematical constant that's the 'base' to natural logarithm

    2. To throw more light:
Euler's Number 'e' is a numerical constant used in mathematical calculations. The value of e is 2.718281828459045…so on. Just like pi(π), e is also an irrational number. It is described basically under logarithm concepts.

  23. "நடைபாதை நடப்பதற்கே" is a sign (translated as "platform is EXCLUSIVE for pedestrians" ) by the well intentioned corporation put on many roads. Every city street or road has on its sides free(?) space called footpaths or platforms. This is primarily intended as a walkway for safe passage of pedestrians. But the STATE OF AFFAIRS is far from pedestrian friendly.

Empty spots in overcrowded cities developed without much planning is increasingly UNAFFORDABLE so many adopt this UNOWNED space for a variety of innovative uses, such as but not limited to:

Platform eateries - starting as SIMPLE trolleys peddling eats these gradually settle down on the footpaths as regular eateries with gas stoves cooking and serving hot ROASTED snacks and drinks. Ocassionslly authorities take action to DISPERSE these but they return. Some display a license to operate too.

Gardens - Local colonies develop small gardens with lawns, flowering plants and even grow vegetables (perhaps RHUBARBS too).

Utilities - EB find this space convenient to install Transformers and power distribution cabinets with large BALUSTERS completely filling the space.

Parking - These provide excellent spots for parking bikes, autos even cars or to abandon DISUSEd vehicles.

Stands - SERVEs as a good stand for bicycles and autos.

Fast lane - At peak hours especially near traffic signals these serve as a fast lane for bikes to get ahead honking at hapless DODDERing pedestrians who need to be QUICK ON THE DRAW to avoid collision.

Garbage bins - These are stacked on the footpaths and often spill over with scavengers having a field day. A SWEEPING change may be needed to DISPERSE this.

And many other HYBRID purposes too....

It's a joy to stroll and walk, ambling lazily like a LAPDOG on the clear footpaths even in small cities (say YEOSU) abroad. Can this happen here? Will platforms in say a city like SALEM India emulate those in it's American namesake?

This is not to DENIGRATE anyone but just to highlight the STATE OF AFFAIRS on these spaces alongside our city roads which is becoming RATTIER. Need some authority with a HEART OF STONE and the power of a BLUE WHALE perhaps who will not bow to down to lobbies or WAIVE rules to clamp down and clear these.

Inspired by the lovely crossie today and a walk mid morning on a busy Chennai road. Waited for the blog solve to get over to post this.
