  1. Hi
    Clue 8d already answered by The Colonel ages back in the left hand panel. Liked UNBEATEN. With KNITTED brows I thought: Can I call rice as unbeaten phova ? Would past tense of Tally Ho used by fox hunters and air force pilots be TALLIED hoed ? No TENS*-I-ON, ENDANGER yourself by ATTRACTing the NE(ARE)ST INTERN.

  3. CO and OC are used as Commanding Officer / Officer Commanding but not as abbreviation of Colonel.

    For eg: OC 108 squadron !!

    4a. I think terracing a garden means creating steps on it.

    2d: Is lettuce extra roughage in the clue, since centre of an iceberg is cold hearted.

  4. PS: Iceberg Lettuce is also a variety of lettuce.

  7. Interestingly, 8D POTASH which is a CD here, is also cited as an example of a charade under annos on the left hand side of this blog. Curious are the variations of a crossword !

    'put into' will have to taken as doing double duty

    Counted = Definition = {T{ALL}IED}
    on
    everything = ALL
    being
    put into = Inserticator
    put into bonds = TIED

  19. That is just around 10000 away, Richard. BTW, this one is much more esoteric. And the clue lies in both the mails read together. As of now, I can envisage only one person here cracking it. Not because of lack of IQ or whatever, because it is information known only to one person here. Others will have to do some guess work and search to locate it. Further, some slight sleight of hand is also involved. But it is all logical. Also, for the record the number right now is 323250 and the correct count would be about 19500 counts later.
