ReplyDeleteIt is the other way. REQUITE meaning even up/repay is the answer.
Did not do the CW yet as working on something enjoyable right from morn.
ReplyDeleteMeantime repeat yesterday's post:
"
Reminding of a post on 3 Jan 2011
>>
Aproximately 19200 counts later in the counter for visitor numbers ....
I see 'something' unknown.
>>
Now less than 200 numbers away (present 342587)
A series of ten numbers, with the last digit substituted for the 24th alphabet.
Nokomis, Florida may reveal some connection
Sure to hit the mark by tomorrow. As informed earlier, I expect only one person to discover the secret behind the above, due to some personal esoteric knowledge ! And I am sure that person will be here tomorrow ...
"
Almost there, 7 more and closing...
Just reached 342740. Valid for next nine numbers. Maybe after golf ?
ReplyDeleteSorry, that should be gowf !
ReplyDeleteNice crossword today, managed to dredge tabula rasa back from my long distant Latin education. My COD 29A
ReplyDeleteDave, I am glad you liked 29a.
ReplyDeleteActually, G had a different word in that slot.
It was discovered at the last minute that this grid had SADHU (which, as you know, was already in yesterday's crossie) at 25d. For G, repeating a word in a set of six is not a done thing.
While changing the dupe, ENDORSED came in as a consequence. The clue for this was written instantly and sent.
Kishore. Can you be some more explicit for lesser mortals like me?
ReplyDeleteMy COD - 22D ..
ReplyDeleteI was just about to reply on the Orkut community that the word "second" was superfluous in the clue- when its requirement just struck me:-)
I see 'something' unknown.
ReplyDeleteIC-34274X
where I see=IC
34274X is representation for numbers 342740 to 342749, while 34274 is the zip code of the town mentioned and the whole of it, i.e.
IC-34274X is ......
Kishore,
ReplyDeleteWhere in heaven did you get my IC number from, your 8:41 did give me an inkling but I never imagined that you knew my number!!
Akashic Records...
ReplyDeleteSab ka number aata hai !
I did not want to reveal it till you revealed it yourself.
Afterall, Name, Rank and Number can be shared even with enemies; then why not friends I thought.
By the way, Deepak, enjoy the gowf:

I'll need to relocate to Scotland to read that :-)
ReplyDeletePutting (!) Deepak and golf together,
ReplyDeletelooking forward to Col.Bogey's march
during Beating the Retreat tomorrow.
Looks like I will be disappointed:

Initially mis-named by many as The Bridge on the River Kwai tune (though the movie did bring it to public notice) and later a song in WW2 on Hitler's possible monorchism, it still is a catchy tune...
Nice one today! Noticeably harder than the previous two days, but after reading the answers, still as satisfying. :)
ReplyDeleteHard pressed to get a COD today. Tried... but couldn't settle on any one COD! At least 3 clues tied for top spot. So, I'm skipping today's COD selection. hehe
Turns out I arrived at a few answers in round-about ways, sometimes even with (partly) incorrect solutions!!
ReplyDeleteAs for the Latin clues, Google translated "Let it be" simply to "sit." That had be stumped until CONSTRUCTION came up (or down). As for TABULA RASA, I had no idea of the meaning but I'd heard the phrase before in a musical context. And until I looked it up in the dictionary, I never new it was Latin. (Hey, RASA sounds like Anglicised Sanskrit. :D)
Can someone explain 1 AC?
ReplyDeleteKarthik,
ReplyDeleteRiddles = Definition = {CHAR}{A}{DES(-i)}
Daily = CHAR (Look it up in the dictionary)
a = A
local = DESI
disposes of = Deletion indicator
one = 1 = I
