    Thanks, link to FURBELOW changed.

    Thanks. Though I did think of PUS, but then rejected it.

  9. Enjoyed today's offering, but I too can't get the link between spirit and theatre (unless it's Blythe Spirit, but the indicator would have been play not theatre). No déjà vu this time - guess I've been here long enough for the Hindu to have caught up with The Observer.

  14. Late yesterday one NJVaasi raised some questions for which I have provided a response.
    May or may not be convincing, but there it is.
    Where Gridman has erred, he will admit it!
    This statement is not made with any bravado. It is to take responsibility for the work done.

  18. Chaturvasi,
    Thanks for responding to my q/q/w from yesterday.

    As for the C/W ratings being restricted to a single line, I wonder if the width of the sidebar can be adjusted so that more space will available to accommodate the extra options.

  20. @Karthik:

    5 - OU sportsman keeping a woman of intelligence (12) - {BLUE}{STOCKING}

    OU Sportsman : BLUE (Oxford University Sportsmen are called BLUES after their uniform and get Blues as an award for performance, which I think is in common with Cambridge)

    KEEPING: STOCKING
    Woman of intelligence : Blue Stocking (see Col.'s link)

    6 - Beat writer, at first, with a club (7) - {NIB}{LICK}
    Beat: LICK
    Writer: NIB (from Writer to Pen to Nib, which is the business end of a fountain pen)
    at first: NIB before LICK
    club: NIBLICK (again, Col.'s got a link to that I am sure leads to a def. or wiki link on Niblick)
