Today’s crossie brought to mind two diverse memories (the first could be by design, the second surely a coincidence) :
ReplyDelete9a: Forty years back (almost to the day), the visit of USS Enterprise(the longest naval vessel in the world) in 1971 (on11th Dec), cast its shadow on the Bangladesh war. Thankfully, Tiger (who incidentally was a WWII MC holder) was done by 16th. Thanks, Deepak, for putting in the very picture I was expecting, with the sailors standing as Einstein's equation.
28a:Laurie, Hugh; who starred in the link given by Navneeth just yesterday, and has been a real entertainer as The Regent Prince George, Lt. George, Bertie Wooster (these three accompanied by Steven Fry) and later as Dr House.
Incidentally three airplane answers:
ReplyDeleteAircraft Carrier, Aircrew, Autopilot
Kishore, those answers made me think for a minute that Sankalak was trying a themed crossword.
ReplyDeletePut in Starship Cruiser first for 9ac before the right answer - guess that's the first USS Enterprise a Trekkie would think of!
ReplyDeleteBhavan, how about 11a 21d 4d?
ReplyDeleteVeer, you have gone where no man has gone before.
ReplyDeleteI went there too, Veer
ReplyDeleteSuresh, what a place to hold your meeting with Veer.;-)
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly, today's Guardian Quick 10667 has at 10A the same answer that the THC has at 11a.
Kishore @9.13 : ) You are peerless in finding patterns where none exist by design.
ReplyDeleteBhavan, there are count-less peer-less people out here.
ReplyDeleteMaybe some of the word wizards here will find this interesting. VOWELS
ReplyDeleteRe: 9A, I veered that way as well, initially.
