ReplyDeleteAdding some more scratches to yesterdays broken record!!
ReplyDeletePersonally I like my CWs to be a little harder to crack
ReplyDeleteBell pull was good. I was struggling for a while with bell push, which is more common. A bit of 21D?
ReplyDeleteMy COD is 20A. Loved the beautiful surface reading.
ReplyDelete14A was a little different from what I'm generally used to, so I thought there was a typo in it.
ReplyDeleteIt's usually the case that
[HI][fodder][Def.] (or [Def.][fodder][HI], for that matter)
is to be interpreted as [Def.] = homonym of (synonym of/equivalent word for [fodder]),
whereas here we have
[Def.] = homonym of (example of homonym of [fodder]).
I hope that made sense!
Reportedly dear dish (6) - SAMBAR [~sambar(deer)]
ReplyDeleteSambar is famous dish in south India, especially in TN where people take breakfast (Idli+Sambar) and also in dinner& supper.
Thanks. I should try that someday. ;-)
DeleteGood crossword but zapped me a bit on 14 Across. SAMBAR
ReplyDeleteBELL PULL took me back to my days in Mombasa where I had a friend who used to go home late nights after a few tots of whiskey. His flat was up a staircase and in order not to disturb his family, he had devised a rope with a pulley that he could pull that would open up the latch and he'd totter up and quietly get into his bed. !!
