Apropos 14d, did you know George Boole, after whom Boolean algebra is named, was also a ‘conqueror of Everest’ in a different sort of way. He had married Mary Everest, George Everest’s niece, herself a self taught mathematician and co author with GB. The clue and the answer had me chuckling.
