Quite a good puzzle today. Liked 1A.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Mover is moving away from liking for Anagrams
DeleteWhen anagrams are used in moderation like today, it makes such a difference to the puzzle because you can use other clue types to add variety.
DeleteYes,agreed. Struggled a bit for 1A before getting it and so enjoyable. Normally a good smooth CW is indicated by nil or least no.of comments!
ReplyDelete28 - Male duck follows knighted Francis (5) - DRAKE [DD]
ReplyDeleteWonder what "follows" is doing in the clue.
Drake follows Francis
DeleteMONICA will also fit 9Dn. Joking!!!
ReplyDeleteI thought so to. But Tom and peeping did not exactly fit adequately.
DeleteI wasn't when I filled in just that! :D We didn't have power for an extended period of time today (beyond the standard 2 hours) so I couldn't search for the answer on the 'net. Of course, it didn't matter very much, since the crossings were taken care of already. But after looking at the answer in this blog, I realised that it was only a month or two ago that I had read the story of Lady Godiva and how the phrase 'peeping Tom' came about.
DeleteOh, and this is certainly a better offering from Mover compared to the previous run. (I still can't get over Alex Alexander!)
