DeleteTwists and teasers! The long ones fell early and helped a lot. Small doubt Reg 10a caught seems extra: dock is cut short. Would the clue be ok without "caught".
ReplyDeleteTake a look at Col.'s anno. It is C(at) leaving cut (dock) to get UT.
DeleteI get your point. It's a different anno altogether. Doc.to clarify what he had in mind.
DeleteHi! It is as Col has annotated. (-c)U{BOA}T
DeleteSnake= boa
in= insertion
dock= cut
caught= c
leaving= deletion
submarine= defn
I was asking only that if the clue would work without caught. No prob with col anno.
DeleteIf I understand correctly, you are equating Dock= Cut short, and then using 'short' as an indicator. If so, technically 'short' would be last letter deletion indicator which would yield Cu, not Ut.
DeletePardon if I have misunderstood. I know you think quite laterally (that is a compliment👍), so I might be misinterpreting.
