It's unfortunate that this Crossword by GUNS (Cdr Ganapathi) could not be published before he left for his heavenly abode on 12th Aug. Better late than never. We were fortunate to have such a passionate Cruciverbalist at the ripe old age of 93. God Bless him. Hope he has a rocking time up there with Sankalak, Gridman and Raju.

With that we come to the end of this Crossword by Guns. It was fun while it lasted. Rest In Peace Cdr Ganapathi (Guns). We will miss you.
ReplyDeleteDear All, this is Sriram, Cdr ganapathi's son, signing in from my dad's account. The Ganapathi family thanks you all for a wonderful little journey that my father enjoyed through Col sahab's blog the last few years. He called 'Incognito' Kishore his guru and Gridman an inspiration. And along the way numerous setters whose clues he would note down as 'brilliant clues'. My father has been an inspiration for a legion of friends and family. Currently the Chess Problem composers across the world are running his chess problem compositions in their respective blogs/sites as a mark of respect. He began setting Chess problems at the age of 70 and has over 250 published problems to his name. This would be the last sign in from this account I guess for Guns. Its been an emotional few days for us and Col sahab, a big thank you for this - I am sure Guns has signed in from wherever he is to read all this stuff :)
ReplyDeleteHeartfelt condolences
ReplyDeleteSo nice to do his parting gift. Good one to remember him. I was reminded of a series in TH- From Sankalak Files, after his passing away.
ReplyDeleteAs they say in England, Commander is no more/ Long Live Commander.
Surprised to read about his chess problems- never knew. Otherwise, I could have tried to solve a few with his assistance. Surprising to note he started this when he was 70. Amazing. Never too late to learn/ start anything. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Really tough to miss such an active man.
