  3. Sorry. Usual notation for detectives are cids in regular parlance. Still that s instead of c there bogs.

    1. Dungarees are often made from Denim fabric. That is the connection with Jeans. Otherwise they are different

  7. May be this is the first time I am hit by Avtaar tsunami. I kept on telling myself it is our Avtaar CW you should be able to solve and score well, like (INDI alliance) but I was completely routed by today’s CW. Even though I got solutions for a few I was having lot of self doubt till I visited this blog to confirm same. Sorry! It is not my day!

  10. 7d, Spelling for robbery ('dacoity') is dakoiti. Not found in Chambers. May clarify please. If it is Desi, should it not be qualified?

    ReplyDelete

    1. It is in Chambers. Dacoit or Dakoit. And Dacoity, dakoiti or dacoitage (adj).

  13. Blogger is having an issue in adding links, changing colours of the text plus highlighting, due to which there may be delays in the post in the mornings as it takes more time in preparing the blog.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The issue seems to be with latest chrome update, most probably the referesh rate.

So the idea is to trick chrome.

Like select the text and instead of directly going to color palate, move the cursor around (out of section, but thats too tecnical), you would notice cursor blink. Then select the color palate.

      Same with adding links.
Select the text you want the text to link then let it hover for sometime (a second or 2) and them click the hyper link button.

  15. A bit tough but I finished. Some doubts though.
In 23ac - what's the role of tailor & adapted. Cheap is dung + (saree)*
In 10a - what is the role of release?
Smoothen is slicken - not smooth no?
In 17ac - Host is crush?

    1. Release:slacken
Smooth:transitive verb means "to (make) smooth":smoothen

But agree smooth is very local dialect for british. THC should have hint.
