A7 being a DD, career for speed is a verb, and career for calling is a noun. Is the clue not inconsistent?

Even then, often I feel like standing at a crossroads while solving cryptic crosswords, with anagrams behind, DDs ahead, hidden letters to the left and homophones to the right! Happy Aug 15th!
