  1. I think Rita would have had the privilege of doing this on paper. Also Venkatesh. Don't know who else up in the North!

  4. There's no paper tomorrow in Hyd.

A question on use of plurals for abbreviations:
Sailors as ABS, Is it acceptable?

3 Core of the blog is tamper-evident (4) GIST (T).
    The indicator for hidden fodder?

  5. 8D- I think the def. is only 'conveyance' or 'the conveyance'. 'one leaves' should be part of the word play.

  6. There was an edition here today. No paper tomorrow.
Good crossword. Only crib I have is that it started off with 4 anagrams or partial anagrams in a row.

    1. A personal disike. that's all

    2. Actually a thumb rule is: no two full anagrams in a row - that's next to each other.

When a CWD is done, there are so many such things that one could check for such unwritten laws and amend towards attaining 'class'. But one might overlook or ignore one of the things while concentrating on others.

    3. CV. No offence meant. As I mentioned earlier it is only a personal dislike of anagrams. Just ignore my comment

    4. But rest assured that your right to differ is never disliked.. :-)

  9. Hi, we had the paper edition in Delhi, albeit a slim one. BTW for information the hindu in delhi costs Rs 8 a day. Is it the same in other cities too?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hi, Ajay !
Here in Hyderabad it costs Rs.3 daily and on Sundays Rs.5

  11. Some papers printed in one place and distributed elsewhere by train or air will have a freight charge.
I thought the Delhi edn was printed in Gurgaon and so don't understand why the freight charge should be high.
That the edition today was slim is understandable. Yesterday was a holiday in Chennai and so skeleton staff must have produced a skeleton edition.

  12. Thanks CV and Mukund, I think the cost in each city depends on circulation and advertising revenue. In delhi the circulation must be less hence it is priced that way everyday including weekends. I think in Bangalore it is 5. In Delhi it is printed in Noida where I stay so no freight charges for sure.

  13. We had a discussion on the costing of the paper sometime ago and someone mentioned that it had something to do with the cost of waste paper also

  14. Well there appears to be one more follower from Vizag, RS Rao. Would love to meet you.

  15. Our proposed Mangalore meeting never took off. Perhaps we could organise a Vizag S and B. Hyd people should be able to join.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Just to clarify:

It could be safely said that the proposed meeting in Mangalore has only been held in abeyance since the convenient dates of the aspirants did not agree with each other.

My suggestion not to have it in October has been vindicated because of the erratic rains. I requested that December-January could be avoided because of a glut of functions and events.

It can still be thought of some time between end-January and end-February 2014.

As I had said once or twice earlier, S&B or no S&B, the bloggers here, individually or collectively, are welcome to our city and you can bank on my assistance.

  17. 28d - Like will, can anyone get legal heir certificate while one is alive?

    ReplyDelete
  18. To be more precise, can Mr x get certificate detailing who are his legal heirs, when Mr x is alive?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I understood your question only after your addendum. I am not a legal expert but common sense suggests that an LHC can be obtained only after a person has passed away. However, it's better to get the opinion from a well-versed and dependable lawyer. Internet is full of gratuitous advice and it's better to get it from proper quarters.

    2. Also, is an LHC of Mr X obtained by Mr X? I have not heard of this. As far as I know, a death certificate of Mr X is needed before a LHC is obtained by his heirs.

If core is double duty then why "evident "
