  2. 5D: Get paid by head gardener for levelling (6)
One possible interpretation is RAKE IN (get paid) + G, but there is no homophone ind or deletion indicator for E
6D: Something like a letter bank clue? Not sure

  3. 6D- Yes, it looks like pick A,R,E & A from Shakespeare. But no indication.

    1. 6D I took it as shakes=anagram indicator(-p)(losing leader of peare ) to get area

    2. Then "losing leader" is on double duty since it is already used to remove D from Durban.
And eare* does not give area

    3. You are right. I was trying to hard to reverse engineer a la Prasad!

    4. Vasant, Shakespeare was called bill.

      Delete
    5. So how does that become Area?

      Delete
    6. Bill/cape, land. Area is the characteristic of land.

    7. Phew! You have to equate Shakespeare=Bill=Cape=Land. Characteristic of Land=Area. Seems too tortuous!

    8. Tempest character Ariel somehow became area. witchcraft .

  5. A guy living in the URBAN AREA of Chennai happens to RESUME his coin collection.
    How did this happen?
A one rupee silver coin of Queen VICTORIA FALLS in his hand and how!
His uncle just back from IRAN gives him the coin together with a FLORIN and a purse containing 50,000 Rupees.
Wow! This ENSURED his interest in British India coins (a step away from his MAMMOTH collection of RI coins).
He buys himself a book by Fred Pridmore and the the TRAUMA begins. There should be no SLIPS in the comprehensive series. His friends and relatives have to ADULATE him in no UNCERTAIN terms.
He is frequently seen in search of George VI, Victoria Empress and other such coins often shrugging his SHOULDERS at fakes.

RI coins - Republic of India coins

    1. How does that become Rakin?

    2. Get/run/r
      Paid/answered/ak
      by/in

But I think rake in for paid with get as homophone is better.

    3. agree. get has to be the homophone indicator.

    1. Also in 15A, isn't Introduction on double duty? Both as definition and insertion ind.
