ReplyDeleteYes MAHATMA Gandhi.
The Father of our Nation often DEPICTED in pictures spinning YARN on the CHAKRA.
His only weapon: AHIMSA
We join the Nation in celebrating his HUNDRED and FIFTIETH Birth Anniversary today.
Well Said!
DeleteA fitting tribute to Bapu on his Hundred and Fiftieth anniversary!
Thank you Incognito!
Thanks. It wasn't my idea ... ;)
Delete2D- Aba is given as a coarse cloth made from Camel/goat's hair. This could be a buffing agent.
ReplyDeleteAnd:A
DeleteA for AND? I always thought N=and.
DeleteCan you highlight Prasad?
https://acronyms.thefreedictionary.com/A
DeleteHaha! Thanks Prasad!
DeleteThere is hardly any word excluded in the A-list!!!
Can we take it as a reasonable list for crosswords?
It has been quoted here before, repeatedly. So I took the easy way out. Will get back with more specific tomorrow. On escort to HM today, being holiday.
DeleteEnjoy your time, Prasad! No hurry, everything waits.
DeleteSorry. My mistake.
DeleteWhen I saw Incognito out of turn on 2nd Oct., it had to be a special.
ReplyDeleteThank you Incognito & CGB.
Our tribute to the Great man.

ReplyDelete5D: Thought it was a charade because Flogs is plural. Flogs=Whip+Lash but whiplash itself means flog!
ReplyDeleteNot my domain but is there a N vs V in the clue?
DeleteWHIPLASH is also a type of neck injury which is the second part of the DD
DeleteI took it as FLOG+FLOG where one flog for whip and the other for lash
DeleteRamki and KKR have together explained it well.
DeleteDon’t I know.? Whiplash injury is caused in motor accidents when a sudden jerk of the car causes a body to lurch forward and backward of the head resulting in neck injuries, especially when tailgated. Special damages are paid for under a policy. That’s the reason why a seat belt helps in minimizing the jerk.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning everybody ! Today's Bangalore edition of The Hindu is insipid and restraining the use of cross words and sentences I need to know as to why it is bereft of our daily dosage of the puzzle. I am totally clueless ! Can anyone throw some sound and light on this disappointing syndrome ?
ReplyDeletePlease refer page 22 for your daily dose. On back of Opportunites page in supplement
DeleteThanks for explanation, Kishoreji.
DeleteI thought it was some spam message.
Apologies Aristocrat Associates!
By the way, is it something like cryptic academy? Who is behind this Group? If you don't mind, disclose yourself.
Score already means twenty, does it not? So the result of 31 across is fifty two!
ReplyDeleteWhere is the ambiguity Unknown? The annotation clearly states two scores as 2X20=40 plus ten is 50.
DeleteIs it not half of 4dn hundred?
Thanks, KKR for explaining
Delete6D does lit mean landed?
ReplyDeleteYes. Lit means descend onto land
DeleteThanks, sree_sree for explaining
DeleteLight means 'land'. lit is past tense. Similarly, alight(ed).
DeleteTomorrow no Paper. Any special? KKR can assist from his stock.
ReplyDeleteHa ha, thanks Ram!
DeleteBut I am not sure if it can be readied in acrosslite version.
Prasad can do such things at the snap of a finger!
ReplyDeleteBut then, he will have to take a nap!
Delete:-)
DeletePl. read my subsequent entry after checking up the print edition.
Ram (in his anxiety) seems to have jumped to the conclusion that it a holiday announcement in the box item on the first page!
ReplyDeleteIt is only Th's tribute and info about special articles on Gandhiji in today's edition.
No Mr. Rao. It is not what you are assuming. The name Aristocrat Associates is my company's name founded in 1983 and from Bengaluru. I, S M Aziz the proprietor is a live and die hard addict since 1980 when I had shifted to South India and was introduced to The Hindu crossword by one Mr. Thirumala of Hosur. Mr. Thirumala is no more and was an intellectual and was actively connected with the Cultural Ministry & had spearheaded the Raj Kapoor delegation to USSR for the 'Awara' premiere.I am not academic enough to run an academy and I give myself 5 out of 10 in the test for solving crosswords. I would term my interest as a leaning process - spelling mistake intended. No need for apologies Mr. Rao.
