  1. 26A is a DD IMO
    Delta = Greek character
Delta also means difference (delta between plan vs actual revenue etc.)

    1. I think it's just a CD - couldn't see a second definition. It is a structure (uprising) created by ants (colonial residents)

    2. Can an anthill not be called an uprising- in a cryptic sense?

    3. Box 6: Iceland’s “Anthill”
In 2011, two democratically-elected governments stepped down in Europe “to satisfy markets” and were replaced
by non-elected technocratic governments tasked to deal with austerity and debt. While many have questioned the
legitimacy of these events in Greece and Italy, much can be learnt from the experience of the small country of
Iceland. Iceland lived for many years on a financial bubble that burst in 2008. When the crisis hit, images of Iceland’s
people banging pots and pans in front of the Parliament and demanding the resignation of both the Prime Minister
and President of the Central Bank appeared in media headlines all around the world—the so-called “Kitchenware
Revolution”. The crisis had a deep impact on Iceland’s people, who organized themselves to create an alternative to
the current system with the participation of all Icelanders. This is the origin of the grassroots movement known as
“The Anthill” (“No single ant has the same amount of wisdom as the entire anthill”). In November 2009 The Anthill
organized the National Assembly with the participation of 1200 Icelanders chosen randomly and considered
representative of Icelandic society (with 300 representatives of organizations and institutions), who were asked to
name the values that a new constitution should be based upon as well as their own vision for Iceland’s future and
possible ways of action to rebuild the country’s economy and society.

  11. No sir. I was preparing for a talk in a medical meet and so I slept late. Hence the delay. Anyway could patch up some tale in a hurry.

  12. The famous AERIALIST from NANTUCKET, U.S.A., who traced his ROOTS to CONGO, SELECTed the JORDAN VALLEY close to the Hula LAKE for performing a breathtaking ropewalk. A NYLON rope had been strung from the MOUNTAIN on one bank, with a GENTLE incline, to a BRONZE pole on the PLATEAU near the other bank. Flowing 100 feet below was the swirling river, the CAUSEWAY built across it being the only thing to land on in case of an accident. It was PLAIN that the task was not going to be easy and he had to LEARN not to look down at all. The smooth LINING of his leotard, was designed aerodynamically, to make the NORMALLY strong wind a NON-ISSUE. An ANTHILL close to the finish GOALPOST in the plateau had to be destroyed by pouring KEROSENE over it, so people could stanld there to watch the feat. There was a CARNIVAL atmosphere, with a big crowd that had gathered to CHEER him. Someone QUIPped that his steps were like an OCELOT, sure-footed. With bated breath, they watched as he survived one scare after another, in one of of which he had nearly FALLEN down. He took 5 steps ON AVERAGE per minute and made to the finish in a nerve racking 20 minures. DELTA airline, his sponsor, preented the prize check of a million dollars.

  13. Thank you DOc. As good as ever- no sign of hurried patchwork.

  14. The hurry shows. One typo noticed in the tale. Any way I can fix it after posting?

    1. Some typos need not be corrected, in my view. After all, everyone is aware that it was accidental.

    2. I agree. After all these are ephemeral posts. Readers are clever. So we could ignore typos. Writers must not be too worried about them.

  15. Folks, the latest in the series of Hindi cryptic crossword is now open for solving. Let's see who bags the prize this year. It's available at crosswordunclued.com.

  16. RKE - we can't edit our Comments here as we can do in Facebook. Nor can I (poster) with limited powers. I don't think even the owner can edit someone's Comment. I read my Comment after posting and if I notice a typo, I copy-paste the matter, correct and re-post. Then delete the first one. But not everyone will have that much time on their hands.

  17. Thanks for the clarification. Then I have to make do with an errata I suppose as I noticed one more typo. 1. 'Stand' and not 'stanld' as typed. 2 one extra 'of' to be removed

  18. ANTHILL = UPRISING. Too far-fetched ! This what I meant that one can justify anything in cryptic crosswords. I don't blame the compiler's licence !
