  1. Ms. Angela VICUNA, a famous educator from NICOSIA was to take over as Director of the UNESCO field office located in an UPMARKET area of HARARE in the AUTUMN of 2019. A welcome ARCH had been put up and the LEAD OFF event in the programme was a RUMBA dance with African dancers TWIRLing to traditional tunes. An IMAM, the EDITOR of a local Arabic daily gave the welcome address. The educator, in her chief guest's address, spoke of the ADVANTAGES of bringing down the AGE LIMIT of children for school admission from the present 7 years to 5. She also proposed a scheme to distribute modern electronic GADGETS to the OTIOSE African schoolchildren to be employed by them USEFULLY in furthering their education, instead of just attending to LIVESTOCK.
AFTER DARK, in the dinner that followed, she was served BORSCHT, the Zimbabwean version being made with EARTHWORM. This odd ingredient caused the ACUTEST stomach pain she had ever had. She clutched her ABDOMEN TIGHTLY and was taken by ambulance but the vehicle moved at a slow CHARIOT pace through the thick traffic. The emergency nurse in the ambulance gave her an injection from her KITBAG. That saved her life, and she not only lived to TELL the TALE, but was back to doing AEROBICS the next morning.

    2. +1 Prasad,
There is no abbreviation as RAR

    3. In MES (Military Engineering Services) we have the term RAR which is used for by contractors to submit their bills for work done.

    4. However how does dues become ARAR? If Dues = Accounts Receivable it should be just AR

      Delete
    5. Col,
AR is due and dues is AR+AR
      Just as goods=G+G in 10AC

      Delete
    6. Dictionary says AR is Accounts Receivable not Account receivable

      Delete
    7. Still its receivable (as collective), due.

    4. Gagbit to baggit to bag kit is spoonerism. Mountaineering is just ascending indicator to kit bag. My take. But I feel spoonerism has become abracadabra.

    5. Sorry last word missing in the clue. It was part of mountaineering attire. Part of for Bit and Cag (cagoule) for mountaineering attire. Didn't really know it happened. Idea was to keep Duffel bag as a part of mountaineering attire.

  11. Humour in uniform

The EDITOR of a humour magazine with a TELLTALE KITBAG and a dress TIGHTLY worn over his ABDOMEN entered an UPMARKET AEROBICS centre...

A young woman mistook him for an IMAM and asked him what will happen to him when he went up there.

I will be in the company of RUMBA Oorvasi etc and a jolly good time.

    And me?

    In the company of monkeys...

Why for me monkeys here and there?

  12. I didn't get 1D and 14D. In 14D: HIERARCHICAL is an adjective. The clue has "Order" which can only be a noun or verb. Where is the indicator for adj.?
