    1. I agree.Tibet is not a country. It is an autonomous part of China.

    2. Noted. I should've used "region" which would have been more appropriate.

  8. Happy Onam to Colonel and all the readers. Hope you enjoyed solving (if not watching) some Kathakkali.

Apologies for 23D Goaded horse entering river(5)

The original clue which is correct was, "Goaded horse entering rising river(5)"

The editor has replied that "rising" has been inadvertently deleted and will be restored in the online version.

  10. Very tough for me. 10A is my cod though it's not a fish 😏

Wearing is insertion indicator, right ? Ok to use as container Ind (Kathakali clue)?

    1. Setter specific I searched dictionary. British informal: tollerate/accept.

    2. Is not insertion a form of containing? It may look a little odd here since it is a hat. But hat also contains the head!
10A- fish is not mentioned anywhere.

    3. Tusk seemd to be a speciality of narwhal.

    4. Sree Sree, Don't think that logic works. and how tolerate is a container ind? Take is a container ind..Take is synonymous with study. But study is not a container ind, right?

      Delete
    5. I took accept as containment.

    7. only if accept is in the "take/receive" sense not "acknowledge or comprehend"

    8. Hi I checked this in Chambers Crossword Dictionary after discussion with Ajeesh and Bhala.

Wear is listed as Insertion Ind which is pretty standard. A wears/wearing B is A in B.

Wearing is listed as Container ind. (Wearing in the sense of Consuming like tiring etc)

So 'wearing' can serve as both insertion and containment ind.
