ReplyDeleteTo quote DS's words from yesterday, some bayangaramsets of words today. A bit infy about 16D and 21D.
Got the 'bare' meaning of IN THE ALTOGETHER through Google. Had never heard the expression.
4D - PARCHMENT - Anno not clear for CH = roguish
MIDNIGHT EXPRESS, ONCE IN A BLUE MOON, MY LIPS ARE SEALED (remembered Jim Reeves' hit number), IMBROGLIO were all eyeful. But they fell easily with the help of crossings.
Liked RANDOLPH, AMUSED, MIMIC, RECOLLECT, EMBRACE, IDAHO, INLET ( = sound?), BREWERY, CORPOREAL, LORRY, SIDING, CONDENSE ( cone = church?), REMEMBER, NOMAD, STEVEDORE, DETEST, ACHE (nice one!), BLISTERED (another cute one!), DISCUS and HERON.
Any 'Sunday special' today?
All my doubts about annos mentioned above cleared.
Delete16 D - I had the second word. The ?Y? bogged me. Does the answer make any rhyme or reason to the eye doctor?
Nice n easy.
ReplyDelete@Richard: check out the link with Col's anno. Eye rhyme is when visually words appear to rhyme (spelling wise) but actually do not when spoken. Great beat is the example in the clue.
So now I done gone unless a special comes up
Nice to learn about eye rhyme. Never knew it before. Could only get the second part.
ReplyDeleteMissed out on 'ache'. Liked 6D.
Luckily had read about 'sound' (eg. Puget Sound) as inlet.
I take it that "Sunday special' will be there unless specifically stated otherwise.
ReplyDeleteA cryptic crossie after my heart !! Cracked it in exactly 12 minutes in the bed , before going to sleep at 20 past midnight. Good sleeping pill !
