ReplyDeleteThanks Colonel, for publishing this puzzle.
ReplyDeleteA couple of clarifications:
26D: HU was obtained from Hue (clipping the tail). Connection between view and hue was made from colour aspect (Referencing Chambers online : 3. a view or aspect). Since color aspect was already used for 34A, had to go find some other word.
9A: Without used as a wrapping container indicator (opposite of within)
15A: {LIGHT} == calorie-free and Start of Sweets == {S}
Apologies if any of this was not clear from the surfaces.
Thank you for the clarifications. Enjoyed doing the different type of puzzle.
ReplyDelete'Hu' was gnawing me and I would never have thought of hue since,as you said, one associates it only with colour.
I did 'diwali' (seasonal)but could not quite explain it until I read your note.
Thank you once again and of course thanks to Col.
Would you also pl. explain the 'quarterback' part of 4D?
ReplyDeletequarterback is a position in American football. please check the wiki link in my previous post by removing .m(mobile version)
DeleteI could finish this with a lot amount of flitting about between the grid and
ReplyDeletethe clues, causing severe eye-strain. Since our mind-set is also on closed words or squares, I cannot feel happy with the grid and the numberings, though it is a mind-bender to solve the puzzle. Any day for me, the normal grids and the clues along side. Baah !! BooH !!
