SOLUTION GRID
Happy Deepavali to all Blog Members. Comparatively easy CW today with nice word play.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY DIWALI
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for Diwali. Get to comment early for once :)
ReplyDeleteFound today's puzzle fairly easy (did not get the anno for 7D as well).
Happy Diwali to all. Nice start to the day with Arden. Well-disguised anagrams as usual, especially 14d.
ReplyDeleteHappy Deepavali to all. Nice, easier one from Arden.
ReplyDeleteHappy Deepavali to everyone here.
DeleteHave not been able to take part because of my commitments in the morning hours. Keep it going and have fun.
Is the Hindu print edition expected tomorrow? if not are we having a special tomorrow ?
ReplyDeleteSince the online edition is available on all days there will be no special
DeleteHAPPY DEEPAWALI
ReplyDeleteCol & friends,
ReplyDeleteHAPPY DEEPAVALI
7D ANT also means fretfulness / uneasiness / transience (antsiness) = if it happens
ReplyDeleteMay be this is what Arden had intended.
AN'T is a contraction of on it, and it, if it
DeleteThank you everyone for the Deepavali wishes. Joining late and hence my delayed best wishes.
ReplyDeleteAmazed at the well concealed anagrams. Could never detect the 'doctor'. Maybe, hereafter whenever I see (or read here!) a doctor I may think of an anagram. I heard a story of an Ayurvedic doctor who gave a medicine to a patient(may be a placebo) and told him NOT to think of a monkey while taking the medicine. No wonder he was never able to take it!
Col.,
ReplyDeleteAre you sure the print edition tomorrow will carry a CW? If not, you have our popular request to release one from your reserve. Thank you.
Sorry, I meant on line edition.
ReplyDeleteABCDE:
ReplyDeleteFlail a widow exhibiting retrograde celebration (6)
Happy Diwali everyone, Diwali is the answer :-)
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteDiwali greetings to all. Intensity of fireworks seems to be coming down every year (no complaints). But still a bit too much for my poor dog which tries to find the darkest, quietest corner.
ReplyDeleteNice smooth one again today. Still can't figure out the last part of the clue for 7D, guess it's safe to say that for most that it wasn't the clue that led to the solution (the last bit of course)
Happy Diwali to all
ReplyDeleteWishing all THCC friends all the very best for Diwali/Deepavali
ReplyDeleteNice to see you log in. Any Divali celebrations there? What is your return prog.?
DeleteIn Status Quo Ante...
DeleteA VERY HAPPY DIVALI TO ALL FELLOW - BLOGGERS , IN PARTICULAR TO cOL WHO HAS MADE THIS POSSIBLE.
ReplyDeleteSUNDAY SPECIAL: Thanks to Lightning.
Luckily, I could print the Sunday Special. These grids appear in the Listener of London. I have not like the demarcating l shaped-blocks much but the clues are always off-beat and great to crack. They need a lot of patience comparable to a mother with a brat !
Incidentally, DIVALI of the North and Deepavali of the SOUTH ? Why this North-south divide? I like the word DEEPAVALI- a row of lights.sounds great. Can any one tell why and how and when deepavali became Divali ? Because parents ka divala nikal jaata hai?
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to join the anti-cracker brigade and prefer to crack crossies at home. If any of you happened to see the Headlines Today TV feature on Sunday evening about the pathetic conditions of work of the Sivakasi Cracker factories' labour force, you'll want to join me instanter. Its a pity that crores of rupees are literally blown up in smoke creating noise and air pollution. I wish there is a Law against this like they have for cigarette smoking.
Any day, I'd prefer to listen to the whispers of God in the silence of the night !!
Aha! Listen to Simon & Garfunkel's Sounds of Silence
