ReplyDelete(the link to bertha is misplaced)
I like to read and enjoy good, simple cartoons like Blondie, Mutt and Jeff, Dennis the Menace, etc. But nowadays ToI, the marketing product that it is where readability is at a discount, publishes Blondie etc in such small dimensions that I cannot read the matter in the bubbles comfortably. As for cartoons that are published in good display in TH supplement, I don't like them a wee bit and so won't look at them. Am I alone here - in not liking brainy cartoons?
ReplyDeleteI go here whenever I need a cheer up and binge.
Deletehttps://www.comicskingdom.com/blondie
I am with you on the selection of cartoons, Denis topping the list.
DeleteSuggest reading them on the net when you can enlarge them to suit you. I do the same.
DC suppement (Chennai Chronicle) carries Dennis,Blondie and it is available free on the net (without subscribing)
Thanks. Yes, that's a comfortable way of enjoying our fave comics.
DeleteDennis has been my eternal favourite. Around ten years ago Pickles joined him. My sources are gocomics.com and seattlepi.com
DeleteDennis, Blondie, Phantom, Mandrake, Flash Gordon, Bahadur, Tintin, Asterix, Amar Chitra Katha and Twinkle were and still is my favoutite.
DeleteMy latest indulgence: Got a complete set of Tintin comics.
Did I forget Beetle Bailey and Hagar The Horrible?
Delete8AC What type of clue is this? What is the role of "employees" here?
ReplyDeleteThe anno is doz (abbr of dozen) and employees initially e.
DeleteAfter myself, Sandhya and others of course, you're now the CCE here. Crossword Clue Explicator.
DeleteThanks Prasad, I thought too much about the clue (like composite anagram), ha ha
DeleteSo did I and could not get anywhere. Now that you explain it, it looks simple enough. We missed the abbreviation part.
DeleteWe don't hear from Sandhya at all these days.
DeleteShe was quite a cracker!
+1 CV Sir for CCE.
DeleteWish Sandhya would come here often. But for her Birthday wishes and the rare clue in 1Across, she is hardly seen. I used to call her Anno Queen.
I am not able to get the theme- cartoon characters?
ReplyDeleteBlondie characters
DeleteThank you Prasad.
DeleteDon't you think there is an overdose of Incognito?
ReplyDeleteNEVER!!
ReplyDeleteI want more....and more.
Happy it is four.
Never! He’s a primary teacher for all beginners in cryptic crossies. Today, of course, he was in a droll mood and a bit naughty in some clues. Crosswords are for pleasure and need not be always cranium crackers !
DeleteAs for me, they are my elixir of life.
Don’t worry, tougher ones are on the way for the rest of the week.
Thanks, Incognito.

ReplyDeletemean to say the visual effect of sandwich. is it so!!!!!
The themed words are all characters in the Blondie series of comics. I too did not spot it until explained by Prasad.
ReplyDeleteoh....too depth to grasp the core theme.....have a nice day sir....awaiting for friday test.....let me try to crack 5 puzzles on or before 9 am.....
DeleteYes, it's Blondie! And you can find some more theme words... Not characters ...
