ReplyDeleteNormally I find Dr X clues difficult. Today managed to get answers to rrasonable numbers,
16Ac. TRUMPET: MUTTER and P (softly) rearranged. Clues having words with opposie meanings are real fun.
22Ac. GLITTERATI (fashonable celbrities) LITTER = refuse, GAT(E) + I (mpudence) Good diversion with "refuse to enter opening"
25Ac. TERRORISE: ERROR (blunder) I (one) inside rearranged SET
3Dn. ENTHRALLED: THE NERD ALL (everyone) rearranged.
7Dn. TOUCH UP : Revolting PUT (as verb means place) is TUP and OUCH (cry of pain) inside it
3D. Anno needs a relook.
DeleteDoes what I have written suggest I arrived at the answer in fluke or does it show I did not understand it or show I have a wrong understanding of the clue? Is not my anno enough?
DeleteIt is certainly not a fluke. strangely - anagram indicator, "keeps" indicates "all" is inside and not part of the anagram. the anno should be 'all"inside anagram of "the nerd"
Delete2 Dn: NUCLEAR = Type of weapon { Anagram of A N(new) CLEAR
ReplyDelete11 Ac: {THE}O{RISE}R}S = They speculate
10 Dn : DRAW THE LINE ( DD)
2d nuclear from anagram of A N from new and cruel
ReplyDelete3d enthralled anagram of the nerd and all
ReplyDeleteRepresentation of anno is (the nerd)* over (all). Its not total anagram.
Delete10d draw the line dd
ReplyDelete17a Israeli serial and I anagram
ReplyDeleteISRAELI {SERIAL*}{I}

ReplyDeleteNice puzzle for a Friday. Got all except 24D
ReplyDeleteYes. A grammatically smooth sentence with a surface appealing to commonsense and not-so regular def word. Good mix for a cryptic clue.
