A typical Incognito fare today. 20D reminded me of thé British professor who asked for a rubber in an American store. When told that they come in a pack of 5, he said "why, one would last me 6 months". 😊

  7. From what I have read in a decades-old book on contraceptives, in early years there was indeed a washable and reusable condom.
PS My grandfather was an LMP during the Raj and this book I must have found in the lumber room in his palatial house where the joint family lived. He himself had written a book on ob-gyn in the vernacular, Telugu I think, though Kannada is our mother tongue.

  10. Incognito recognized by his signature style in this grid.

Erasers and rubbers are synonymous, but contraceptives are rarely known as rubber these days. They have acquired new glamorous names, scented(?) flavored and titillating ads. Trust CV. to set the cat among the pigeons
