A newspaper of repute won't publish plagiarised work. First of all, they would entrust work to a person in whom they have trust. 'Critic' should say who he or she is, apologise and wipe the egg or mud or ink or whatever else on their face.
i was also surprised when i found soem thc clues in wordplay on 19th july 2019.
Deletei rechecked the site backwards and found it started on 8th july 2019.
i remember random checking the time those days and found between 800-830 am.
i just checked today and the whole solution is there already.
it appears the site also pays for sending in solved clues.
also Cryptic_Critic profile is creaeted in january 2020.

I totally agree with Col.& CV. I have also visited wordplays.com who give out solutions (sometimes with annos if it is a simple T or anagram. Of late,they have started listing out clues from TH and sometimes on the same day as Col. has rightly pointed out. Just because these clues are found in a website,one cannot blindly accuse a setter of plagiarism. Nowadays net is really wide and many things can be found if one is bent upon it.

DeleteOut of curiosity, I visited the site Paddy mentioned. Interestingly, the answers to the THC of today, appear there. As per our blog, the following clues are yet to be solved:
Across - 13, 25, 29
Down - 17, 18, 23, 25
But answers to these clues are also already available. So, they may be coming from other sources too.
If they are taking clues/answers by automation from the blog, both must be available on the main post. They cannot take clues from there and answers from Comments. I think they must be drawing these from the interactive version on the website as they can get the clues from the list alongside the puz grid and answers from the (reveal all) sol grid.

DeleteI tried to see the comments of Cryptic Critic of that date. It seems Col deleted those comments. Were those comments setter-specific or on all the Indian setters?
DeleteCryptic Critic seems to have stumbled on an Anon clue in Wordplays on that day and then checked all clues of the day one by one. He then had posted a long message giving links to all clues. His conclusion was Anon had lifted all the clues from that site. Whereas vive-versa was - and is - happening. CC's discovery was ok - their conclusion was wrong.

DeleteI have delved deep into the site and felt very sad that they published solutions for prized crosswords too. This defeats the competitive spirit of the solvers.
DeleteI consider this as worse as piracy.
At the same time, I searched on the basis of solution word. The result is very scary as many clues of various setters appeared and there are surely some look-alikes. The list gets longer if the searched word is small. I am not sure whether the setters are same or not. Assuming the website tracks only few papers, imagine the chances of repeats if the n-number of newspapers' database is here!
DeleteAgree KKR on the solutions of Prized crosswords. Defeats the very purpose of comptitive spirit and takes the fun out of solving.
DeleteRepeats are inevitable, if not today in few years time, as there are only so many words one can use, esp in noncompetitive like newspapers. And given the nature of time lag between setting and publishing. Given the number of crosswords each day around the world, it might be difficult even without the time lag. That's why I stick to just one or two mostly. So it doesn't kill the fun for me.

The most cryptic part of the pangram puzzle is finding the theme! Don't we DIG IT?
Although, the clues did not OVERTAX the grey cells, they did not fail to ENTERTAIN.
If you are BENT ON having a good time, how about picking up some WHISKY at HALF PRICE in the YULETIDE sale, that begins as early as NOVEMBER these days in the duty-free shop of the Robert MUGABE airport at Harare, during one of your GLOBAL tours? Also on sale there, are some beautiful MINIATURE icons of ZULU warriors weilding a SABRE. And don't forget getting the CD of movies like ROMEO and JULIET or TANGO. You needn't worry, the X-RAY EQUIPMENT to scan baggage there has not been REPAIRED for ages!
