    For years from my first puzzle in THC, I was using six grids that I set originally. Later, after the puzzles started appearing with pseudonyms, the practice continued.
    Today I stumbled upon an analysis in Crossword Unclued of the grids that I used. It makes many acute observations. There is no Comment under the post; I wonder if I had missed it, though I was a regular visitor and a guest writer there.
    Vasant is one of those very familiar with my grids and has often commented on them. For a very long period the grids were used in a cyclic order. Lately I have been using new grids as THC has given us some latitude. In hot metal press days, making grids was a long process Involving creating metal plates from art pull-outs so we had limits on the number of grids that we could use.

    BTW, Money plant in my notes was meant to be a CD. Plant as in factory. Hence, Mint is a Money plant...

    We can take 'Mint' to mean 'money' as in "He hade a mint from his business on the roadside"and 'plant' (herb). So a DD.

    FT 16645 has two or three careless errors attributable to the setter concerned. Among the UK crosswords it is not edited as well as solvers can expect.
