ReplyDeleteIncluding the night when gas leaked in Bhopal. I called my boss who had gone home a few minutes earlier and got his permission to redo the front page to take the breaking news. ( told the press to stop, remade the front page and carried a small item on the top with a three-col heading.
I think our paper was the only one in the city to carry the news at daybreak.
All the streamers appeared in the papers, incl IE, the next day!

DeleteA smooth and easy puzzle and very nice clues. 1ac,16ac, 27ac and 8dn are my favourites. 16ac led me a merry dance for about a few tense minutes as I could not guess E's partner. I didn't guess West, as 'the twain shall never meet'!. Thank you for a beautiful puzzle, Dr. X.
