    3. Yes. A random change but a change such that you get a word meaning wretched. Sometimes the changed alphabet is not indicated.

Must have taken a lot of googling to get Spiraculum. I inferred it from the crossings but couldn't find it on Google

  4. Is 'anna' for the old coin specific name in TN? Not sure what they called in the rest of the country.

    1. It was a denomination common to all. Char anna was twenty five paise.

    2. Anna was a British (India) coin. TN ->(brother) .

    3. Not quite correct to call it a British coin. It existed in our country even after Independence until some restructuring was done. As a boy I have myself handled annas. 16 annas made a rupee. We had half-anna and quarter-anna (arai/kaal anna). Mukkal rooba would be one of each of those coins.

    4. There used to be what was known as 'Dhondi kal anna'- 1/4 anna coin with a hole in the centre (imagine a flat circular disc hollowed out at the centre) CGB still has it in his collection. I had lots of them joined together on a string, but not now.
