The enu I mentioned in my grid for the following clues was:
ReplyDelete11AC 10 and 15DN 9
Enu looked to be okay on the face of it. Just checked after your comment.
ReplyDeleteALTARPIECE is 10 and GOLDENROD is 9. Both are single words.
ReplyDeleteI too noticed and mentioned the actual enu. I don't know how their crossword software works contrary to what we indicate!
DeleteSometimes dictionaries differ.
ReplyDeleteIs abstinent a noun? I could only get the adj by googling. So how abstinents? Kindly clarify.
ReplyDeletePlease see the link:
Deletehttps://www.thefreedictionary.com/abstinent
Thank u Sir. I couldn't find this before. Thank u.
DeleteSuper
ReplyDeleteI do not find any dictionary support for 'abstinent' as a noun. It does not have the meaning of 'one who abstains'. It is not a countable noun.
ReplyDelete'abstinent' is an adj. a per a couple of dictionaries I looked up.
Even the link shows it up as an adj, not n.
Above Comment is withdrawn. One dict has it as n. meaning one who practises abstinence.
ReplyDeleteHowever good standard dictionaries didn't help me in my lookup.
