  8. Can anyone tell me why an endless test should end in a draw? Of course, the setter should be knowing, but apart from him? Interesting fact.

  9. No KKR. This refers to an actual Test match that took place in SA between them and England way back in time, when time did not matter and they decided t o play till the end.

    1. Draw was relatively recent!!!! Features. Tests were normally played till both teams completed full two innings. Then the tests started to go on and on......
And then flights (or rather lack of them) and schedules became unbearable! So draw was introduced.

A tamed draw is particularly special case where the batting heaven pitches probably made it clear on third day that it's a draw but had to be played in full anyways.

    2. It is a CD. A Tame Draw is a test in which no result (end) is possible and this is known much before the end of the game

    4. The match started on March 3 and only finished on March 14. Cricket was played on nine days out of the scheduled 12. March 5 and 12 were the rest days and there was no play possible on March 11 as the weather played spoilsport.

South Africa set a target of 696 for England to chase. On the final day, England were 654/5 and well on course to chase down the total. However, the tourists were forced to leave the game in between, as they had to rush back to the nearby railway station to catch their train to Cape Town to play the final match of the tour against Western Province, before boarding a ship back home to England. Therefore, the match ended in a draw.
