    1. O = Ohio in The Chambers Dictionary Fraz. Have confirmed it. In the Chambers Crossword dictionary though, Ohio abbrev is OH.

    1D: CASSIS (A SS in CIS), reminded me of the "sirop de cassis", a favourite of Hercule Poirot
    7D: STAIR ROD (hp stare + rod), flight refers to flight of stairs
