  4. 27D. Then compound is the anagrind for getting 'Iron'out of the rest?

    1. If you remove agitated 'gent' from 'Nitrogen' you get Iron without compounding, that is what I meant

      Delete
    2. Depends upon which n is removed. Can end up with Niro too.

    3. On the other hand anagram of nitrogen can always given irongent or gentiron!
The gent does not have to be agitated!!!

    4. That is true.
Similarly in 2D and 14 D there is no requirement to tear the 'chits' or injure the 'deer' 😂😂

  7. 9A- Hippo- small animal? I had doubts while filling in.

  9. The CONCERTS were well advertised.

A long LINE and almost a STAMPEDE to get in.

    Alas!

The TREBLE NOTES were FLAT and not to one's expectations.

Added to that was the BASS. And the harp was too SHARP!

(It is to be mentioned HERE that all of the above was due to a faulty sound system which was set right).

    Jai ho!

  10. Hello wonderful people here! I'm a long time lurker here and solve puzzles occasionally.

I hope you and your loved ones are doing well in these unpredictable times.

Recently I have been using Discord for all my communities, and it would be a dream come true for me to get to know all the cruciverbalists here better, and Discord is a wonderful Tool to achieve this.

Please let me know your thoughts.

  11. Rest and Ledger are theme words too.

Rest as in the pause during play. Ledger lines represent lines between staves, For example, middle C is between the bass and treble clefs on a ledger line

  12. The last line in above can be better worded as:

For example, middle C is notated on a ledger line between the bass and treble clefs

  13. In 9A HIP is from IN. In 17A we get BRACE from COUPLE. I feel it will be helpful to new solvers if the blog highlights such words to show that they form part of the wordplay.
